PURPOSE:To manufacture the optical semiconductor device having stable coupling output to a temperature change during operation, excellent radiating property and high reliability by joining a metallic block with an optical semiconductor element placing section, which is projected to approximately central section of a ring, to a stem. CONSTITUTION:The metallic block 207 consisting of a metal having high thermal conductivity has a joining section 212 with a stem base 201 taking an approximately ring shape, and has the placing section 206 of an optical semiconductor element 211 projected to the central section of the ring. The metallic block 207 is joined with the stem base 201 by the joining section 212 so as to surround the periphery of a through-hole 204 for extracting monitor beams formed at the central section of the stem base 201. |
