PURPOSE:To enable the selection of many characters without increasing greatly the number of arranged characters, by having an array of radical groups which are component elements of a character in addition to an array of primary character groups having high using frequencies. CONSTITUTION:An input device of Chinese characters contains a radical code generating part 11, a character code generating part 12, and character code temporary holding circuits 2 and 3. Then an optional character is selected out of character groups. If a character is selected among the radical groups, the code of the selected character is held at the circuits 2 and 3. When a character is selected from the primary character groups and a character code is held at the circuits 2 and 3, a new code is produced by the combinations of all held signals and the selected character codes. On the other hand, no signal is held at the circuits 2 and 3, the selected character code is delivers outside at it is. |
