<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the storage capacity, by using one code as a syllable of high frequency such as ''tion'', ''ing'', or the like in words stored in an electronic dictionary. CONSTITUTION:A word is stored in an ROM in the standardized state. One data of the ROM consists of 8 bits, and upper-case and lower-case alphabets, numbers, phonetic symbolts, Katakana (square forms of Japanese syllabary), special symbols, etc. are stored in the ROM. The spelling of the word is stored in an area 1 of the ROM, and its part of speech, modified forms, idioms, etc. are stored in an area 2 and following areas. When a syllable of a high frequency such as ''tion'', ''ing'', or the like is inputted in the word to be stored in the area 1, a symbol consisting of one specific code is used. Thus, the storage capacity of the ROM is reduced, and the operation is simplified.</p> |
