PURPOSE:A polyester containing a specific third component is melt spun and the resultant fibers are treated with aqueous alkali, dyed and coated with a polymer with a lower refractive index than the fiber polymer to give polyeste fibers with deep and bright color tones after dyed. CONSTITUTION:Terephthalic acid and a glycol are used as the major components, further isophthalic acid bearing alkali metal sulfonate groups or its derivative is added by 0.5-10mol% further 0.3-3mol% of a phosphorus compound and a lithium compound are added so that the total equivalents of the phosphorus compound and the lithium compound becomes 2.0-3.2 times the molar quantity of the phosphorus compound, without previous reaction, then, they are subjected to polymerization. The resultant polymer is melt spun, the fibers are treated with an aqueous alkali to leach off 2wt% of the fibers, then dyed and coated with a polymer with a lower refractive index than the fibers. |
