In a manually operated labelling unit with a side aperture in its casing, through which the feed mechanism for the label bearing strip is accessible and which is closed by means of a flap, parts are provided on the flap which project into the casing and which interact with pressing elements for the label bearing strip in such a way that these pressing elements unequivocally secure the bearing strip to the outside perimeter of the feed drum as and/or when the flap is closed.
