PURPOSE:To certainly reduce the spectrum components by specifying the positions of branch pipes in relation to a main body of an exhaust muffler used for a car engine and the like. CONSTITUTION:A tail pipe 13 discharging an exhaust air stream outside from an exhaust muffler main body 2 consists of three pipe members 13a-13c with the same diameter and two pipe joints 13d, 13d' connecting said pipe members to each other in series. For the full length l of the tail pipe including a part inserted in the muffler main body 2, the length of the pipe members 13a-13c are selected such that the center of the pipe joint 13d connecting the pipe members 13a, 13b is seen from the side of the upper stream side of the tail pipe to be in a l/4 position and the center of the pipe joint 13d' connecting pipe members 13b, 13c is seen from the end part of the upper stream side to be in a l/2 position. The inside diameter of the branch pipe is made similar to that of the pipe member and the free ends 5a, 6a of the branch pipe are closed. |
