<p>PURPOSE:To increase a contrast ratio and to improve display quality by using substrates consisting of uniaxially stretched plastic films. CONSTITUTION:Polarizers 1 contg. dichromatic dyes are laminated on two sheets of uniaxially stretched plastic films 2a, 2b, in such a way that the angle that the polarizers assume to the optical main axis direction of the films attains 3 deg., whereby composite films 3a, 3b are formed. Transparent conductive films 4 of desired patterns are formed on the surfaces of the films 3a, 3b, whereafter resins are coated on the display surfaces of the patterns and are rubbed in the polarization direction to form oriented films 9. Such films 3a, 3b are assembled by using sealing agents 11 contg. spacers 10 and nematic liquid crystals 6 are sealed therebetween. The display panel which is free from a decrease in the quantity of the light to be transmitted therethrough owing to interference of light and has a high contrast ratio and excellent display quality is obtained.</p> |
