A system is described for supplying low-voltage lamps, especially halogen lamps, in which a switched-mode power supply is provided in order to achieve the minimum possible losses and an optimum light yield in conjunction with a considerable weight saving, which switched-mode power supply has a mains voltage input on the primary side and, on the secondary side, supplies a high-frequency voltage which is reduced in comparison with the mains voltage but is considerably higher than the lamp rated voltage, each lamp having allocated to it a miniature transformer which reduces the voltage on the primary side at least essentially to the lamp rated voltage.
