Several clamping devices (60) of a first group which are designed for clamping one workpiece (32) each on one side are arranged on an indexing plate (18) which can be rotated in steps about a central axis (20). These clamping devices (60) face a loading device (30) for supplying workpieces (32). Arranged on the side of the indexing plate (18) remote from the loading device (30) are clamping devices (80) of a second group which are designed for clamping the machined end of one workpiece (32) each. A gripper (100) can move back and forth between the two sides of the indexing plate (18), with which gripper (100) partly machined workpieces (32) can be removed from the clamping devices (60) of the first group and can be transferred for clamping in the clamping devices (80) of the second group. <IMAGE>
