A guide device for a drill is attached to a dental handpiece and consists substantially of a guide bushing (3), which surrounds the drill and is fixed to the head of the handpiece by means of a compressible elastic element. The end surface (7) of the guide bushing (3) lies against the gum throughout the duration of the perforation, the gum thus being compressed. The guide bushing (3) has a passage bore (6) for the passage of the drill (2). The field of application lies especially in the perforation of the cortical bone of the jaw. <IMAGE>
