PURPOSE:To obtain an entitled material superior in spectral absorption characteristics and decoloring elution tendency in photographic development, and very small in staining after the development, by adding a specified oxonol dye. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive material of this invention is formed by adding 1-800mg/m<2> oxonol dye having formulaI(R1 is an aryl group having at least one sulfonate group; R2 is H, lower alkyl, or aryl; and n is 1 or 2), such as formula II, to a hydrophilic colloidal layer, developing its color, and using its layer as a constituent layer of the silver halide photosensitive layer. |
