PURPOSE:To provide the titled recording medium which is prevented from generating the offensive odor of a Te compound when being irradiated with an energy beam and has a high sensitivity and a long useful life, by a method wherein a recording layer comprising Te as a main constituent and a metallic protective layer are provided on a base. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer 12 comprising Te and one or more substances selected from the group consisting of C, H, N, O, F, P, S, Cl, As, Se, Br and I and having a thickness of not smaller than 200Angstrom is provided on the base 11 such as a synthetic resin plate a glass plate, and one or more metals selected from the group consisting of Pt, Cu, W, Ti, Ni, Cr, Ta, Mn and V are vapor-deposited thereon to provide the metallic protective layer 13 having a thickness of 50-500Angstrom . |
