The supporting device (10) has an annular or disc-shaped basic body (11) in which radial elongated holes (12) are formed in which supporting bolts (14) can be locked in place by means of the nuts (17). One surface of the basic body (11) has surface tooth systems (15) which run transversely to the displacement direction and engage in matching tooth systems of the support pieces (26). The locking square (14.1) engages in a corresponding groove in the basic body (11) or in the support piece (26). The supporting end (14.3) is conveniently arranged eccentrically (e) to the axis (14.4) of the shank (14.2) and engages in bores of the clamping jaws of lathe chucks in order to support the clamping forces during boring of the same. <IMAGE>
