<p>An adjustable anchorage, for example for the shoulder anchorage of a vehicle seat belt system, can include a channel track 30 in which a slide 10 supporting a seat belt can be manually ratcheted. Tension in the belt enhances engagement of locking pawls in apertures 35. Alternatively, the pawls 120 are permanently engaged in apertures 135 and are freed when the slide 110 is manipulated. In Figures 8 to 11 the slide 40,50 is locked by a pawl 55,85 in response to belt tension and may be held by a lock nut 62 after manual adjustment. A ball catch 59 ensures correct slide positioning in Figures 8 and 9, whilst in Figures 10 and 11 a pawl 89 performs this function. A frusto-conical surface 304 on a locking plunger 301 co-operates with the walls of a slot 323 to ensure correct positioning of the belt support in Figures 12 to 19. In Figures 20 and 21 the adjustment is achieved by rotating the belt support 424 on a bolt 430 to free the support 424. In Figures 22 to 26 the belt support carriage 510 is freed for movement by rocking about a horizontal axis.</p> |
