<p>A high voltage series connected tandem junction solar battery 10 comprises a plurality of strips 20-22 of tandem junction solar cells of hydrogenated amorphous silicon the tandem cells at each strip having one optical path and being electrically interconnected by a tunnel junction or equivalent interconnect layer 40. The layers of hydrogenated amorphous silicon, arranged in a tandem configuration, can have the same bandgap or differing bandgaps. The strips of tandem junction solar cells are series connected, e.g. by interconnect indium layers 46, to produce a solar battery of any desired voltage. <IMAGE></p> |
