<p>A window comprises a frame (6) and a glazing element (2) mounted in the frame (6). The element (2) comprises a rigid sheet (2) of transparent plastics in which is homogeneously dispersed a series of luminescent or phosphorescent materials forming a luminous cascade, the absorption band of which covers a very large part of solar radiation wavelengths and the emission band of which covers a predetermined narrow band. The element (2) comprises, in the vicinity of at least 2 of its opposite edges, a series of flat photocells (3) the best operating range of which is situated in the narrow emission band of the luminous cascade. The lower part (8) of the frame (6) has a relatively large width to shield the photocells while its outer part (9) is of reduced width to expose the element (2). Means are provided for connecting the cells (3) to an electrical circuit (5) located outside the frame. Used for trapping solar heat. The design results in high yield and the cells are completely shielded from view by the frame (2) while the transparent sheet (2) is colourless and does not look different from a conventional glass.</p> |
