PURPOSE:To make input data very few and to make data input operation very simple, by detecting the advancing direction of own vehicle with respect to the running distance and the absolute azimuth when the vehicle is running, and continuously displaying the preset position and advancing direction of own vehicle on a display screen. CONSTITUTION:The absolute azimuths, i.e. the east E, the west W, the north N, and the south S are provided on the right, left, upper, and lower sides of the display screen D. At the time of starting, the azimuth from the starting point to the destination and the straight distance between them are inputted with a map being referred. In this way, with the starting point A as a reference, the destination B and the straight line C connecting the starting point A and the destination B are automatically displayed. A computer computes the absolute azimuth of the destination, i.e. the slant angle of the straight line connecting the starting point and the destination, based on the data. The most distant position from A on the straight line C having said slant angle is automatically displayed as the destination B on the display screen D with the starting point A as a reference. The rate of the reduced scale of the length of the straight line C with respect to the straight distance between the starting point and the destination is automatically computed and memorized. |
