PURPOSE:To expand the directivity relating to the transmission and reception of light in an information processing apparatus which transmits and receives information by means of light by disposing light emitting elements and photodetectors on the surfaces of an optical waveguide. CONSTITUTION:This optical waveguide is a transmitting and receiving device for wireless connection of information processing devices to each other at a short distance (more particularly in room). An optical waveguide 21 have end faces 27, 27' which are matte finished and the other surfaces which are finished to specular surfaces. A cut part 22 is provided at the center, and light emitting elements 23, 25 and photodetectors 24, 26 are provided therein. Directivity as wide as >=180 deg. overall is provided by the total reflection in the mirror surface parts and the scattering by the matte surfaces, and the restriction relating to the disposition of the apparatus is decreased. |
