PURPOSE:To contrive certain ignition and prevention of soot adhesion caused by a shortage of secondary air by a method wherein a heating burner is provided on the front surface of a catalytic substance mat, an igniting burner is provided closely to a heating burner, a guide which counteracts a part of a flame is provided between said catalytic substance and said heating burner. CONSTITUTION:A heating burner 2 is provided on the front surface of a catalytic substance mat 5, a igniting burner 1 is provided closely to a heating burner 2, and a guide 4 which counteracts a part of flame is provided between said catalytic substance mat 5 and said heating burner 2. A flame produced by said igniting burner 1 is radiated toward said guide 4, makes said heating burner 2 be ignited, a part of remaining flame is radiated to a surface of said catalytic substance mat 5. Said catalytic substance mat 5 is activated by said heating burner 2, after activation is performed said heating burner 2 is cut off. In such a structure, as the pilot flame is not directly radiated to the surface of said catalytic substance mat 5, the secondary air flow toward said catalytic substance mat 5 is not counteracted, accordingly, prevention of the soot adhension and the like on the surface of said catalytic substance 5 caused by the shortage of the secondary air can be achieved. |
