Method for increasing the fire resistance of moulded, foamlike cushion or upholstering material, such as for example, latex foam rubber or moulded polyurethane foam, which method consists in that one coats the cushion or upholstering material with a thin layer of a filler- containing non-gel rubber latex foam, produced from natural rubber latex, a synthetic rubber latex which does not contain halogen in the polymer chain, or a mixture of two or more such latexes. Preferably, one uses 200 to 350 parts of a fire-inhibiting filler such as aluminium trihydrate in the non-gel foam.
