PURPOSE:To prevent the contamination of melts and to obtain a steel plate having a specified distribution of thickness by disposing the walls of flow passages in the outside circumferential parts of two pieces of cooling rolls which are disposed in parallel to form flow passages in which the molten metal can flow and solidifying the molten metal flowing in the gap direction of both rolls. CONSTITUTION:The melt 7 supplied in a flow passage 13 is divided to upper and lower parts which are guided so as to arrive at the melt inlets 8 in flow regulating parts 9, 10, respectively. The melt 7 entering the parts 9, 10 through the inlet 8 is limited of flow rates with restrictors 11 and is stored in the parts 9, 10, by which the melt is distributed uniformly in the respective axial directions of the rolls 1, 2 and is flowed in the circumferential directions of the rolls 1, 2. The melt 7 admitted into flow passages 4, 5 is solidified in the greater part before the melt arrives at the gap part of the rolls 1, 2, whereby solidified layers 12 are formed on the surfaces of the rolls. In succession, the layers 12 are passed through the gap part 12 of the rolls 1, 2 according to the rotation of the rolls 1, 2 to form a steel plate 3 which is then discharged from between the rolls 1, 2. |
