PURPOSE:To shorten the flame quenching time, by dividing a small chamber and an opening into the upper and the lower sections by providing a bulkhead to a small chamber, and by providing a porous member between the bulkhead and the opening, in a combustion device to which cylindrical walls housing a wick, an opening is provided, while a small chamber is formed in the periphery of an opening. CONSTITUTION:Wick housing cylindrical walls 2 and 3 are provided to a tank 1 in upright, and an opening 4 is provided to the wall 3. The opening 4 is closed by a wick 5 disposed between cylindrical walls 2 and 3 at the time of combustion, while it is opened by the wick 5 which is descended at the time of flame extinction. A small chamber 6 is formed in the outer periphery of an opening 4, and the inside of a chamber 6 is partitioned into the upper and the lower sections by a bulkhead 7 providing small ports 9 and 10 to each chamber 6a and 6b. A porous member 8 is provided between the bulkhead 7 and the opening 4. With such an arrangement, a flame in the small chamber 6 can be extinguished in a moment, as a result that unburnt gas is flowed into the small chamber 6, burnt in a moment being mixed with the air from small ports 9 and 10, and its blast is blown into the gap when the wick 5 is descended and the opening 4 is opened by the function of a quenching device operated by the vibration at the time when the combustor is turned over. |
