PURPOSE:To weld deposited metal of high quality and high strength, by covering core wire of a hollow welding rod with specified flux, sending inert gas from the hollow part and arc welding an object to be welded by thermal decomposition of the flux. CONSTITUTION:A covered arc welding rod 1 having a hollow part is covered with flux that contains little organic substance and generates little gas (except carbon dioxide gas) by thermal decomposition leaving a gripping allowance 3. A welding cable 7 is connected to the gripping allowance 3 by a holder 8, and the tip of the welding rod 1 is positioned at the welding part of an object 6 to be welded. Inert gas is pressed into the hollow part from a conduit 9 to shield the welding part, and DC are welding is performed. Since shielding is performed by slug generated by thermal decomposition of flux 4 that generates little gas, deposited metal of high quality and high strength can be obtained easily. |
