PURPOSE:To reduce the man power by using a cut-off deck as a hatch cover. CONSTITUTION:A portion of the deck of an oil tanker is cut off to form a hatch opening 3 then a hatch coaming is secured around it. The dimension W'' of an open end opening of the hatch coaming 4 is made smaller than the hatch cover 2a to make the hatch cover 2a mountable on the upper end of the hatch coaming 4. Since a portion of the deck can be used as a hatch cover of a bulk carrier, the man power is reduced. |
