A uniform plating treatment is carried out on one side of a steel strip in a process in which the strip travels horizontally over a still surface of a plating bath while the plating bath is jetted onto the side of the strip facing the bath, the bath is jetted adjacent the side edges of the strip in a plating flow running widthwise of the strip and centrally of the strip in a plating flow running lengthwise of the strip.
