PURPOSE:To obtain a vertically magnetized recording medium where the accumulation speed of a recording layer of a vertically magnetized recording film is high and a multilayered film is formed easily, by forming the vertically magnetized recording layer consiting of a Co-Cr alloy on a Ti thin film on a base material by vapor-deposition. CONSTITUTION:A Ti thin film 2 is formed especially as a foundation layer on a base material 1, and a vertically magnetized recording layer 3 consisting of a vapor-deposition film of the Co-Cr alloy is formed on this film 2. It is desirable that the thickness of said Ti thin film 2 is 150-500Angstrom and the vapor-deposition film of the Co-Cr alloy consists of 10-25 atom% Cr and the balance Co. In respect to continuous vapor-deposition of the Ti thin film 2 and the Co-Cr film 3 onto the base material 1, a Ti evaporation source 14 and a Co-Cr evaporation source 15 are arranged in chambers 11 and 12 of a vacuum deposition vessel, respectively, and Ti is first vapor-deposited to the moving base material 1, and a Co-Cr vapor-deposition film 4 is vapor-deposited onto it thereafter. |
