PURPOSE:To improve the adhesive strength between a coating film and a substrate and to improve abrasion resistance and durability in a magnetic recording medium wherein a magnetic layer bound with magnetic powder with a binder on the substrate, by using a binder consisting of fluorinated polyol. CONSTITUTION:A binder consisting of fluorinated polyol and further polyisocyanate are contained in magnetic coating to be applied on a substrate in a magnetic recording medium. Since the binder consisting of the fluorinated polyol is used, the magnetic coating retains the initial good dispersibility of magnetic powder intrinsic to polyol and the magnetic layer (coating film) obtd. from such magnetic coating has a considerably decreased coefft. of friction and good adhesive strength to substrates. The magnetic recording medium which has better adhesive strength between the coating film and the substrate, improved abrasion resistance and higher durability is obtained by compounding polyisocyanate with the magnetic coating and causing the fluorinated polyol and the polyisocynate to react with each other in the stage of forming the coating film (magnetic layer) to generate urethane bonds. |
