PURPOSE:To inhibit color stain in a color image forming system, by carrying out processing with a soln. contg. an optical whitening agent after color development in the presence of a heterocyclic compound contg. nitrogen. CONSTITUTION:An imagewise exposed color photosensitive silver halide material is color-developed in the presence of a heterocyclic compound contg. nitrogen, preferably a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic compound contg. nitrogen, a condensed heterocyclic compound thereof or a heterocyclic compound contg. nitrogen represented by formulaIor II (where A is optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aralkyl, alicyclic hydrocarbon or aryl, and B is optionally substituted bivalent hydrocarbon). The developed material is then processed with a soln. contg. an optical whitening agent to form a color image. The whitening agent is diaminostilbene, distyrylbenzene or the like, and a typical example is represented by formula III. |
