PURPOSE:To improve the output of the engine as well as the operating performance thereof and reduce the fuel consumption by a method wherein the ignition timing can be controlled to an advanced spark-advance side when the engine is in a light load condition. CONSTITUTION:When the inside of an intake manifold 12 is brought into a high load condition and a throttle valve 26 is fully opened, a suction vacuum becomes small and, therefore, vacuum introduced into an advance port 28 becomes small also. Accordingly, a pressure, introduced into the vacuum control device 34 of a distributor 32, becomes a value near the atmospheric pressure in this case, in spite of the operating condition of a vacuum switching solenoid valve 24. As a result, the advancing control of the ignition timing is not effected. Accordingly, the control is effected by only a governor spark-advance in this case, and generation of nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas may be controlled. According to this method, the operating performance as well as the fuel consumption of the engine may be improved. |
