PURPOSE:To improve the starting performance of the engine by a method wherein starting time is detected to increase an igniting energy upon starting. CONSTITUTION:An engine condition discriminating circuit 100a reads a starter switch signal, a water temperature switch signal, an engine revolving number switch signal and a suction pressure switch signal as the input values thereof while the engine conditions A, B, C are discriminated by converters 21-24, OR gate 25 and AND gates 26-28. An output A is set so as to become a high level upon starting when a starter is being used. In one embodiment, multiple ignition numbers are reduced upon starting (from 4 times to 2 times for example) and a primary interrupting current is controlled by a constant current value control circuit in accordance with the reduced numbers of ignitions to increase a spark current (from i1=40mA to i2=80mA for example), thereby preventing an ignition from failure during the ignition plugs are being smoldered. |
