PURPOSE:To automatically set a heating period according to the size of the object to be cooked and enable to cook the object to a favorable finish, by providing a system for obtaining the volume of the object to be cooked and a system for giving the specific heat of the object. CONSTITUTION:Information on the specific heat of the object to be cooked which is positioned in a heating chamber is outputted from a specific heat setter 52 by a selective operation, and the top surface image of the object is picked up by an image pick-up device 16. The top surface image is focused on an image pick-up plane of the device 16 by an automatic focusing device comprised of a signal-processing circuit 57 and the like. A calculating controller 5 produces information on the volume of the object from information on the thickness of the object whose information is obtained from the quantity of control required for the automatic focusing device to focus and information on the area of the top surface of the object whose information is obtained by the device 16. The heating period of a heating source 12 is controlled by taking into account the volume information and the specific information contained above. |
