PURPOSE:To carry out rapidly the heat treatment of a material contg. a carbonizable component without increasing surface bubbles and through micropores by dividing the temp. range of the heat treatment into plural zones and setting a proper temp. for treatment with no bubbling. CONSTITUTION:When a material contg. a carbonizable component such as the plate of a fuel cell is converted into carbon by heat treatment, the temp. range of the heat treatment is divided into at least 2 zones. In accordance with the thickness and composition of the material, the 1st zone is set so that the material withstands the 1st maximum heating rate without causing bubbling, and the 2nd zone is set so that the material withstands the 2nd maximum heating rate different from the 1st rate. In the 1st zone, the material is heated at the 1st rate equal to or lower than the 1st maximum rate, and in the 2nd zone, the material is heated at the 2nd rate equal to or lower than the 2nd maximum rate. By this method the total heating time is reduced and a carbon plate or the like having a dense surface and almost free from through micropores is obtd. |
