PURPOSE:To reduce greatly the deterioration of a received picture quality owing to a defect of circuit characteristics, by transmitting and receiving a circuit state checking signal to check whether the correct reception is possible or not and then changing the transmission system. CONSTITUTION:A jumping over checking signal is used to check an error by which a jumping over signal is regarded as a picture signal; and a black ghost checking signal is used to check an error by which a picture disturbance checking signal and the picture signal are regarded as jumping over signals. When the result of decision is satisfactory with both of these checking signals, the pictures are transmitted bythe 1st picture transmitting method having a high speed. While the 2nd picture transmitting method which reduces the picture disturbance is used when the result of decision is unsatisfactory with the jumping over checking signal and satisfactory and rather satisfactory with the black ghost checking signal respectively. If the result of decision is unsatisfactory with the black ghost checking signal, the circuit is cut off by deciding the end of error for the facsimile transmitter and receiver before an original is transmitted. |
