The invention relates to a roller coating device in which a coating roller is mounted in a T-shape on one end portion of a handle, such that the coating roller is pivotable within a given pivoting range in a direction in which the coating roller changes the angle of its axis towards that of the handle. An axial action of pressure or impact on the handle permits a pivoting of the coating roller together with an elastic deformation, so that a close contact with the surface of an object to be coated is achieved over the whole length of the coating roller under operating conditions in which the axis of the handle is not at right angles to the surface of the object to be coated, so that a good coating action of the coating device is achieved.
