The invention relates to a mirror, which is provided on its front surface with a transparent protective layer (4) of a plastic. The protective layer (4) consists of a highly flexible plastic with self-healing properties, in particular of a three-dimensionally crosslinked aliphatic polyurethane. If the mirror plate (1) consists of glass, the protective layer (4) serves as a splinter-protecting layer.
