PURPOSE:To enable repeating of copy through only one exposure, by forming primary and secondary electrodes on a substrate, coating them with a persistent photoconductive layer, forming an isolated conductor having light-transmitting parts and shading parts, and a transparent insulating layer in due order on this layer. CONSTITUTION:A comb-shaped primary electrode 3 and such a secondary electrode 4 are formed on a support 2 of glass or the like, and coated with a persistent photoconductive layer 5 contg. ZnO, TiO2, or the like together with a sensitizing dye or a sensitizer, such as acid, dispersed into an acrylic resin. This layer 5 has photoconductivity for >=30sec after light projection, and >=10 times the conductivity ratio of the projected part and the nonprojected part, and such heat releasability that when heated to about >=60 deg.C, its conductivity is restored to the dark state. The layer 5 is coated with a solitary conductor 10 having light-transmitting parts 11 and shading parts 12, and further, a transparent insulating layer 13 to obtain an image forming element 1. The element 1 is exposed from the layer 13 side to a light past an image 8, and at the same time or after that, voltage is applied to the electrodes 3, 4 to give distributed voltage difference between the exposed parts and unexposed parts, and this potential difference is developed with toner to form an image. A plurality of copies can be repeatedly obtained by once exposure. |
