For uniform room heating by a heating appliance, in particular in the form of a heat-radiating picture, with, in comparison with conventional electric heating appliances, significantly lower power consumption, a plate, in particular a metal plate, which is held by a pan and shielded by a dielectric insulating sheet and which, by application of a heat-resistant, non-crumbling material, in particular lacquer, can receive heat-resistant paints and thus be formed as a picture, is heated by a heating element arranged behind it, in particular a flat panel heating element impregnated with graphite, to a downwardly and upwardly limited temperature in such a manner that the air particles which pass over the plate and are not excessively heated by it pass into a convection flow, it being possible to draw the current necessary for heat production from a socket with mains connection by means of a plug fastened on a cable and the appliance being equipped with a thermostat, switch-on indicator, e.g. neon light indicator, as well as a frame, and being capable of being hung up exactly horizontally with a liquid container by means of a slotted angle bracket.
