A recorder which records information by moving a recording head (2) relative to a rotary drum (2) acting as an image forming medium. This recorder has a recording element (4) carried on the head (2) which is composed of a plurality of recording element groups (4A), (4B). The groups (4A) are used during ordinary recording, and groups thereof used for recording at a position where an unexposed part is to be converted to an exposed part are switched to the groups (4B), thereby enabling the provision of a sufficiently wide unrecorded band width. In this manner, the band width of a pattern such as a character or a diagram which contains unexposed parts can be secured sufficiently even when a recording method of the negative type is employed. |
