PURPOSE:To prevent dust and water soluble gases in the air from mixing into circulating cooling water by a method wherein in the case of the forced ventilation type cooling tower, an additional water circulating system including a filler, a sprinkling device, a water tank and a circulation pump is provided on the air inlet side of the cooling tower. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary filler cylinder 8 is provided outside a main filler cylinder 3 adopted to cool the circulating water 6 through a stream of air by increasing the surface area and time of contact between the water and the air. The auxiliary filler cylinder 8 forms itself the additional water circulating system including a sprinkling device 9, a water tank 10 and a circulation pump 11. The air supplied into the cooling tower 1 from one side of the latter by means of a blast device 2 passes through the auxiliary filler cylinder 8 and then through the main filler cylinder 3 for cooling the circulating water and is discharged upward. The open air passing through the auxiliary filler cylinder 8 comes into contact with the circulating water 13 within the auxiliary filler cylinder 8 so that the heat of the air is absorbed by the water and the dust and the water soluble gases such as sulfurous acid gas contained in the air are dissolved in the water 13 and collected in the water tank 10. |
