On the basis of the known modulation method with a triangular waveform voltage for a pulsed invertor, an alternating voltage U(illegible) which is synchronous with the desired invertor output voltage is compared with a triangular waveform voltage U(illegible) and, if the two voltages are equal, generates a changeover signal for the invertor switch. The ratio k between the control voltage amplitude and the triangular waveform voltage amplitude is in this case proportional to the desired output amplitude in the region of relatively low output voltages. For relatively high output voltages, the ratio k is increased to be overproportional at values over 1. In consequence, especially in conjunction with a transistor invertor, fundamental oscillation amplitudes of the output voltage can be achieved which can be increased continuously to close to the maximum value which can be achieved with full-lock control. <IMAGE>
