The relay has a magnet system with a core (6) arranged in a coil former (2) and with a yoke (7) surrounding the coil former in the shape of a clip, and has one or more permanent magnets (10, 11) arranged between the core and the yoke. The yoke (7) can move relative to the core (6) in the axial direction of the coil, one of these parts being used as the armature. As a result of the asymmetric design of the operating air gaps, the system is monostable, the core (6) at one end having a lateral limb (6a) which forms a magnetic auxiliary air gap with respect to the yoke (7), parallel to the operating air gap. In consequence, a sensitive, monostable relay is obtained. <IMAGE>
