Device for cooking foods in the heating space (1) of a microwave appliance, with a sensor (8) which is arranged in the flow path (6) of the air flowing out of the heating space. In order to make possible completely automatic cooking or heating of foods in the heating space (1) of the microwave appliance, a further sensor (9) is arranged in the incoming-air path (7) to the heating space (1) and, to detect the core temperature of the food, a measuring probe device (5) is provided and, for automatic control of the cooking process or cooking sequence, a programmable microcomputer (11) is used, to which the data detected by the sensors (8, 9) and the measuring probe device (7) are supplied and which has a number of basic programs for controlling cooking processes for different groups of foods. <IMAGE>
