A nuclear power station having a closed coolant-gas circuit for generating process heat has a high-temperature reactor and a plurality of heat exchangers for transmitting the thermal energy obtained in a nuclear fashion to a secondary medium. All the components are accommodated in a prestressed concrete pressure vessel, each heat exchanger being located in a shaft accessible from above. From the hot-gas plenum of the reactor there are connected two parallel-flow heat exchangers which form a circuit leg. Two of these circuit legs are in each case assigned a common blower which is installed in a separate shaft in a manner accessible from below. All the heat exchangers and pipes conducting hot gas are under the external overpressure of the cold gas carried back to the reactor core.
