PURPOSE:To obtain a yellow coupler having superior color developability, causing slight, fog, and forming a dye with superior light resistance and shelf stability by substituting a 3-pyridyloxy group for H at the active site of an alpha- acylacetoanilide yellow coupler. CONSTITUTION:This 2-equiv. yellow coupler for photography is a compound represented by formulaI(where Cp is the residue of an alpha-acylacetoanilide yellow coupler, and X is a 3-pyridyloxy group bonded to the active site of Cp and capable of being eliminated from Cp when the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine as a color developing agent is coupled with Cp). A compound represented by formula II (where Cp is the residue of an alphaacylacetoanilide yellow coupler having a 3-pyridyloxy group substituted for H at the active site; R is H, 1-22C alkyl; and n is 1-4) is preferably used as the compound represented by formulaI. The yellow coupler is concretely represented by formula III or IV. |
