In the process according to the main patent application, plate-shaped ceramic blanks, preferably clay roof tiles, are fired in refractory cassettes. The firing takes place with solid fuel, which is arranged between the cassette floors and the goods to be fired. In the new process, it is proposed to arrange an excess of fuel, exceeding the heat requirement of the respective cassette, in the cassette and to fire at least one further ceramic product also, in the same kiln, with the excess fuel.
