摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption unit of electric powder by blowing a substance contg. carbon into a half-molten layer kept in contact with charged starting material and by generating heat by oxidation with a gas contg. oxygen so as to substitute energy obtd. by the oxidation of carbon for part of electric energy. CONSTITUTION:When a ferroalloy such as ferromanganese or ferrosilicon is manufactured in a furnace 1, a substance contg. carbon is blown from a lance 3 into a half-molten layer 2 kept in contact with charged starting material 4 in the middle and upper parts of the furnace 1 or into a molten layer 6 under the layer 2. At the same time, a gas contg. oxygen and a cooling gas is blown from a lance 5. While the molten metal is agitated, ore as the starting material is preheated and melted by the exothermic reaction of carbon with oxygen and the molten ore is reduced.</p>
