PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance the printing speed of a printer, by a method wherein the cross-sectional area of an ink-supplying passage for an ink chamber is set to be not smaller than 0.01mm.<2> and the cross-sectional shape of the passage is so set that all points within the passage are within a distance of not farther than 30mum from the side wall of the passage. CONSTITUTION:The printing head sucks an ink into a cylindrical ink chamber 12 through an inflow port 18 and a slit formed in a spacer 13 made of isobutylene- isoprene rubber, and jets the ink through an ink-jetting port 17 by the function of a cylindrical piezoelectric element 11 in accordance with a printing signal. The slit, namely the ink-supplying passage, is provided with cross-sectional area of not smaller than 0.01mm.<2> and such a cross-sectional shape that all the points within the passage are within a distance of not farther than 30mum from the side wall of the passage. As a result, the flow resistance at the time of high-speed printing becomes non-linear, the resistance at the time of jetting the ink is enhanced, while the resistance at the time of sucking in the ink is reduced, the quantity of the ink retracted into the supplying passage at the time of jetting is reduced, and a sufficient quantity of the ink is supplied at the time of sucking in the ink. Accordingly, said construction contributes toward a higher printing speed of the printer. |
