PURPOSE:To shorten the time until generation of hydrogen gas begins, by arranging a pair of electrodes in a container body of a hydrogen storage device, by supplying current to a hydrogen adsorptive alloy in the container directly from the power source, and thereby allowing the alloy to emit heat by itself. CONSTITUTION:The container body 9 of a hydrogen storage device 5 is filled with a hydrogen adsorptive alloy 17, and current is supplied directly through electrodes 10 installed at the ends of the container body 9. One of the electrodes 10 is grounded while the other is connected to the power supply 3 through control switches SW1-SW4 under ON-OFF control made by a control device 26, where the control switches SW1-SW4 are turned on one after another in accordance with the amount of hydrogen adsorption so as to change over containers. When hydrogen is to be refilled, all control switches SW1-SW4 are turned on by the control device 26 to warm the hydrogen adsorptive alloy 17 to the hydrogen adsorption temperature. Then refilling is carried out by opening an opening/closing valve 18 fully. |
