PURPOSE:To prevent any expansion or breakage of a dry cell by heating electrolyte principally consisting of ammonium chloride or zinc chloride at a temperature within a specified range so as to discharge the gas contained in the electrolyte before the dry cell is constituted. CONSTITUTION:As represented by the characteristic curve (C) of 75 deg.C heating temperature for electrolyte, the gas contained in the electrolyte is discharged by carrying out such heating for 40hrs. After such treatment is performed, excellent results are obtained because the capacity of a positive active material is maintained at 80% of the theoritical capacity, which is almost satisfactory, and because no change of the total thickness (t) of a dry cell is caused, that is to say, any expansion of the dry cell is not caused. As to the characteristic curve (D) of 55 deg.C heating temperature, the gas contained in the electrolyte is sufficiently discharged in 50hrs, and results obtained with the dry cell are equal to those of the characteristic curve (C). Thus, the means of heating the electrolyte principally consisting of ammonium chloride or zinc chloride at a temperature within the range of 55-75 deg.C for 50hrs, doesn't only decisively prevent the expansion or the breakage of the dry cell but also greatly increases the utilization rate of the positive active material. |
