<p>derivs., substd. in the 4-position, are prepd. by reacting (a) a pyrene dianion iwth (b) an electrophilic C dervs. Pyrene derivs., esp. cyclopenta (c,d) pyrene (CPP), are carcinogens and mutagens, present in exhaust gases from combustion engines, soot, coal tar, waste gases from heating installations, and roasted foods. Prepn. of these derivs. is necessary for the analytical, mutagenic, carcinogenic, and metabolic study of the pyrene derivs. CPP, 3,4-dihydrocyclopenta (c,d) pyrene, (DHCPP) benxo(e)pyrene, and other pyrene derivs. can be prepd. by methods involving only a few stages.</p> |
